Jim,

you might get some useful info from the BirdTrack website
(www.birdtrack.net), which will show summary graphs of the arrival and
departure dates for most of the common birds in NE England (starting at
http://www.bto.org/birdtrack/dailyresults/results2.htm). There are obviously
a lack of data for some species, but it is growing and a few show nice
patterns.
