Do you have lots of cats in the area? Cats tend to hang around in shade when birds are around and hope to be forgotten. It sometimes works.

I've found that the blackbirds tend to use a clever high-pitch whistle that slowly fades in then out repeatedly. It allows others to know without the cat realising rather than giving that sharp pip call which stands out.
Kind of like two people upon seeing someone they don't like. One says to the other through smiling teeth "uh-oh, don't look now but it's that complete git again."
