Well, for what its worth (not a lot), I prefer B, to me at the end of
several chunks of processing, A sounds more limited at the frequency
extremes, and more congested (compressed) in the midrange. I would guess
there is more 2nd harmonic going on in A than in B, but happy to be wrong.
Hard to tell though, as I don't know what that recording is meant to sound
like, not a great deal of reference sounds to go by.
As to four times, it would depend on what you were multiplying by 4, I
would have to hear them at home with my speakers and sources to have a
real opinion (and to compair to the 300b breadboard I am using at the
moment).
OK, you know the parties involved - the Bez is mine, the Glasshouse belongs
to Ray Jackson. (He bought my other Chinese 300B SET and isn't sure which he
prefers himself!) The same 300Bs (unbranded, Chinese) were used in both amps
but I'll not reveal yet, in case Don comes along!
Suggest a familiar track and I'll post a couple more (if I've got it), but
I'm not sure how useful it would be to compare with your BB - those are
miked recordings from the Fidelios as per the pic and that track was chosen
specially for its lush bass!! If you wanted the amps to compare at home (I
know Ray wouldn't mind) some bugger's got to do some driving.....
;-)
