I'mI recently bought a Cambridge Audio 640H music server.
throughmore than
pleased with it, I find it easy to operate and I'vealready uploaded
much of my music collection to it. Its networkingcapabilities, though,
have defeated me. It has hooked up to the internet
asmy router
and accesses title / artist details and internet radio
homeit should,
but I can't get it to "talk" to anything else on my
fromnetwork.
Ideally I'd like to be able to "see" the desktop PC
notthe music
server and vice versa. The available documentation is
me.exactly
informative, it just mentions in passing that the 640Huses the PC's
"guest" account, which unfortunately mean nothing to
getting
There must be someone out there who's succeeded in
betheir 640H
to talk to their PC so any help you could pass on would
itmuch
appreciated. If it's any help, the network is called"home" and is
password protected to prevent unauthorised access torouter's wifi
channel.
Well actually it is very easy. Mine is hard wired to a
router and works perfectly and yes the book is vague but
IPis all there.
I assume you are using Win XP?
First up assign an IP address to the 640H that is in the
yourange of your router.
Make sure the 640H has a name (I called mine AZUR)
Next enable file sharing on your computer.
Then enter into the 640H the network address of the file
addresswant to read.
e.g \\ your computer's name\music file
BTW don't forget the double "\\" as it is a network
or;-)
Also if you open in Windows: Start> Search> Computers
it asPeople> type in Azur and see if your computer can find
Zone' (orwell.
Hope this helps.
And don't forget to tell your firewall it's a 'Trusted
whatever)...That's why it is necessary to assign the IP address so it is
in the trusted zone on the router. But yes if all else
fails turn off any firewalls (with plug to the outside world
pulled of course) and try then as well.
Cheers TT
