So you will be using it with another of your collection, then? What's the situation with that new amp?
Only a ratty ss MM phono stage which ain't *that* quiet but which I hope
will allow me to record LPs to HDD without punching the meters through the
roof at virtually zero volume setting like I've been getting with the
valve
phono stages!!
Cartridges? Yes, I like the M75ED2 as much as anything for making MP3s -
tracks nice and quiet and creates a sound which is 'punchy' rather than
refined and plays back nicely from the computer. You might remember the
comparisons from a year or two back - one or two people picked the humble
(but excellent) AT95E as being as good as anything?? (Not many people picked
the V15/5!!)
This cart was originally supplied on one, from what I can see of it!! -
Although I've had to fit it to one of my own!!
My arm has a fixed head shell - I've owned it for nearly forty years
and I suspect it is yet another bit of kit that will see me out quite
comfortably.
That's also good. I like to fart around with the headshells - it's part of
the fun for me!!
Here's the new kid on the go:

(I prefer no flash - don't show the dust!! :-)
Now, where's this bloody deck and tuner got to? I'm shackled to the bloodyYou've really decided that the worst case scenario is going to happen.
front door - I don't want that deck going round the loop any more than is
absolutely necessary with the bloody platter *not* removed!!
You might get a nice surprise and find two huge bundles of bubble wrap
in there.
I put a note in the Paypal asking for the platter to be removed and the
tonearm be tied down (the included cart makes this deck a bit of a bargain).
The seller - no newbie, see:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9712949992&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1
emailed to say it was sent well-wrapped and the tonearm was tied down but he
couldn't get the platter off!
I told him there's two ways to get a stubborn platter off: 1) pull upwards
on the platter and get someone to rap the spindle smartly wiv a stick, 2)
put the whole thing in the post.....
;-)
