On that subject, I've got the urge for a laptop myself now - any recommendations?

I've just barely survived a battering on the Apple ng - needless to say they say an iBook above all others, and they have a point.

I use a cheapo business laptop (a HP Celeron - about 380UKP) and it does the job well. If you can run to it look at the Centrino machines. Near enough cutting edge processors (battery life, performance) and most have built in wireless - look for 'g' spec to be sure of a decent stream, although frankly the older wireless should be just fine.

Ebay has some quite serviceable machines at reasonable prices. The issue with them is shagged batteries, and a replacement can set you back 100UKP.

And I'd suggest a bit of encryption security on your wireless link if you haven't already done so - I can happily tap in to two local wireless users as i type.
