Shopping for tank frustration

Hi everyone
I have decided that the time is right for me to keep fish again. I decided
today to go out and about in the Leeds area looking for tanks and cabinets
around some of my old haunts, and what a surprise I got.
Animal house in Birstall has closed down!!! The last time I went there was
last year and it was still doing a roaring trade. It was the largest outlet
locally where you could see a variety of aquariums, not just one
manufacturer. It was also a thriving mail order business, obviously not.
Visiting their website shows that the website is currently suspended and
that Customers with outstanding orders will receive letters within the next
few days.
UK Marines in Batley was another reasonable place to go with an amount of
varying tanks and cabinets. I've been there today and it is a sorry looking
state of affairs. They have a large display tank which used to be marine but
now houses tiger oscars. All of them have cloudy eyes and signs of fungal
infection. The marine tanks looked a bit "tatty" and the choice of equipment
was severely limited. I don't think i'll be going back there gain in a
hurry.
Paws for Thought on York Road usually houses a decent selection of tanks ad
equipment, but even there the range and choice was severely limited to the
Juwel range of expensive tanks and cabinets.
Finally I tried "Living" World in Armley. The smell in there isn't as bad as
it used to be, but the selection of tanks and equipment weren't up to much.
The cabinets all had chips in them and some had pieces missing off the
melamine. They wanted top dollar for second rate aquariums and cabinets.
All in all, a disappointing day for me. Looks like I will have to be content
with buying 2nd hand from ebay!!!
