I wonder if 172s can couple up to 378s? They're contemporaries from
the same factory, run by the same operator, so in a sane world, one
ought to be able to rescue the other.
I don't think that they can. AFAIK, the LOROL 172s have BSI couplers, the same as the Chiltern and London Midland 172s, whilst the Electrostars have Dellner 12s.
