Queen in 1952 but it has no credibility today.

I thought the pageant vainly attempted to show Britain's greatness but
served only to demonstrate Britain's precipitous decline over the last
60 years Some nice old boats, though ;-)

Showed we do Ruritania and eccentricity together very well.
Wet singers on a boat singing Land of Hope and Glory to some folk accross the water on a fairly crudely adapted waste disposal barge was quite strange if not surreal.
But I enjoyed it on the tele and suspect it would have been better to be there.
I didn't see it as any sort of attempt to project us as an economic or military superpower - which would be stupid even for te Lord High Admirals on display to contemplate. It was just pleasant way to salute QE2 for 60 years of queenship.
But my question is why Princess Anne dresses up in a quaint naval uniform for these sorts of events? QE2 actually did a bit of military service and I guess has numerous military ranks/titles but doesn't seem to feel the urge to do a nineteenth century admiral immitation so why does her daughter?
