If you mean the Hutchison of 1960, yes, it's hideous. It's also much
easier to read than Beck's version: for example, it uses mixed case
for station names which makes it far more readable. Beck's proposals
after 1960 also use lower case, which he'd steadfastly resisted up to
that point, so he presumably knew a good idea when he saw one, even if
he wasn't able to think of it himself. Beck's counter-proposal of
1961 (cf. Garland, p54) is pretty weak as well: it's needlessly
complex around Euston, botches Aldwych, and makes a dog's dinner of
the Northern Line City Branch and the Piccadilly Line north of
Finsbury Park. He's keen to make the Victoria Line a straight
diagonal, and doesn't really know how to make the rest of the map work
around it.

Unlike architecture, the new map doesn't destroy the old.  If you want
to navigate around London with an old tube map, no-one's stopping you.

The information it gave you would be wrong, though.

Well, people need to make their mind up. Current, useful information
involves changing the map. Leaving the map as a design icon involves
not adding new information. What to do?
