OK so this just gets more farcical. Based on the post from someone
that visited today to maximise speed the platforms are better accessed
by trains from the logically wrong side meaning that passengers now
have to go West from the normal East platform and vv and so that
guarentees some will get it wrong, particularly when the PIS aren't
working properly like today!
A number of stations on the West Highland Line have coped with a similar
platform reversal for many years. The ones which have island patforms (such
as Garelochhead, Ardlui, Bridge of Orchy, and Rannoch) shouldn't cause too
much confusion, but others such as Taynuilt and Spean Bridge have separate
platforms but right-hand running. Of course the frequency of service is a
little lower on the WHL than at Axminster. :-)
