I'm just pleased that the ridiculous Penistone line experiment has been shelved. As far as I can see, many local users and expert journalists (e.g. Captain Deltic, and John Heaton in the current Railway Mag) were all against it.

Loads of money spent on lowering platforms (an idea which clearly has not been properly thought through) just to run trains with no toilets and fewer seats, with no actual through running to any tram system. It had the look of a conspiracy to discredit the idea of tram-trains.

It seems a shame they are apparently now ordering the prototypes without the diesel engines though.
