Do locos also have accurate cruise controls? I've been on charter
trains with 100mph stock, but hauled by a Class 67 or 90 that stick
very accurately to 100mph (as measured by my GPS). It's hard to
imagine that a manually driven loco could be so accurate.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping to hear. I imagine the 67s have
something similar as well.
