Needless to say I'm a bit confused.
It shows that the first train on which I can use the discounted Off
Peak Return ticket is the 0930

As I stated in my previous post the price of an OPR is £120.40, hence
with a discount it becomes approx £80. Now the trainline suggests that
one cannot use a discounted OPR (from Euston on Virgin trains) before
the 0930 service, whereas Virgin implicity state the SENIOR/YP16-25
discounted OPR tickets are valid on peak services, so in theory should
be valid on the 0730 and 0830 Euston-Glasgow services ?? Any idea why
this £79.45 ticket ( discounted Off Peak Return)  is not valid on the
0730 or 0830 Euston to Glasgow whereas the £126.60 ticket is ?

Aha. This is a silly one.

* the undiscounted, off-peak restriction 9F ticket is valid on
Chiltern before 0905, to allow you to connect with the Virgin train
* the Senior Railcard discounted off-peak ticket is valid on Virgin at
all times, because of their concession to railcard holders

BUT

* Senior Railcard discounted tickets aren't valid on Chiltern until
0930.

So if your dad wants to make use of the exemption, he'll need to buy a
separate ticket to London, in order to get to Euston in time to use
the trains for which the exemption is valid.
