You mean like the hybrid IEP.

I can't imagine many people queuing up to buy them - much of Europe has
electrified its inter-city routes already (presumably SBB never asked
Polson for advice).


No need, because Switzerland had plenty of cheap, clean
hydro-electricity and didn't need to build new and filthy coal fired
power stations to fill a yawning gap in electricity supply versus
demand.
