Sorry to be a real pedant (no, I'm not really), but the maximum line
speed on HS1 (parts of it, anyway) is 300km/h. Imperial units are not
used, and all lineside signage relating to speeds is expressed in
kilometres.
The units make no difference to the physics. You could use furlongs/fortnight to express it if you wanted.
