Not if they are still growing, or cut down and stored properly.
That's not quite the point. The carbon embodied in wood was taken from
the atmosphere, burning the wood simply returns the carbon to the
atmosphere after maybe 20 - 50 years as part of the tree trunk. That's
different to burning oil, which adds NEW carbon to the atmosphere.
That's not the point either. We need to reduce all carbon emissions over the next 25 years *by whatever means possible*. What "kind of carbon" it is has absolutely no relevance at all.
