Also, they probably haven't got any notices that say "this product
bleedin obviously contains nuts", but still have to give a warning.
I've seen a packet of peanuts which did have a less-than-serious message
to that effect.
Peanuts, of course, are not nuts, but are legumes. Thus, people with
a nut allergy won't necessarily be allergic to peanuts, and people
with a peanut allergy won't necessarily be allergic to other nuts.
Doesn't stop it being entertaining, of course :)

Put my first name before the at to reply.
It was great fun eating a pack of Revels (I love the orange ones!!!),
at one time one of the sweets had a nut in the centre! Someone once
likened it to russian roulette!!!
Neil is quite correct in saying that peanuts are legumes,
unfortunately, my system violently disagrees with both peanuts and
other true nuts, walnut, almond etc. The other thing I pay particular
attention to is take away food, some chippys still use peanut oil to
fry their food in, and it also was commonly used in oriental cooking,
I'm no expert in such matters, but I believe it's use in Chinese
takeaway's etc is much less common than once it was. Still avoid them
though.
Tony, you may find the article in the link below of interest with
