The most unlikely destination indication I've seen was a 323 pulling
into Hadfield showing "Kyle of Lochalsh" on the display. But that was
mischievousness on the part of a (then) uk.r regular, so probably
doesn't count.
"Express" on the front of the ex-CT 150s that tend to operate
Bedford-Bletchley seems to be entertainingly common at the moment...
(The blinds have neither "Bedford" nor "Bletchley").
When we used to work the 150s to & from Doncaster Works (where the
repaints and bogie works were done), I always used to display
"unusual" destinations.
Dudley
via Snow Hill
was a favourite, as was
Dudley
via Stourbridge
or, if I felt really bored, destinations such as Bristol Temple Meads
or Bath Spa would appear.
