[Snip Charlie's views]

I used this platform for the first time today when I alighted
from the 08:?? Norwich train.

Notwithstanding Charlie's comments about station facilities
and platform changes, one thing that struck me was how much
"nicer" it was to exit down that staircase onto the concourse
(such as it is), rather than the usual trip down into the subway.
So much so that I thought it was a pity that p0 wasn't used more
often!

It is better for people leaving the station, I suppose, provided
they are bound for the town centre and not the Edgeley area.
Less good for (e.g.) Bolton - London passengers who have had
a cross-platform or same-platform interchange until now.

Admittedly, I didn't want to use any facilities, just get out
for my usual silent town-planners-are-idiots rant on my way down
to the bus station (on the way back it becomes a town-planners-
should-be-taken-out-and-shot seethe as I emerge puffing and
panting at the top of the steps...)

Don't get me started! What happened to that free town centre bus
Tesco were supposed to pay for in return for breaking the planning
permission over their new store?

"Tesco will pay £788,502 to fund a free town centre circular bus service for the next five years - £125,000 more than previously agreed."
-Stockport Express, 2006

"Extending the town centre shuttle service including introducing a new Sunday service and introducing new greener buses with lower emissions" -
