Phil
I was in the east coast restaurant car a couple of times last week.
The food is just as good (although i've never tried the breakfast -
always travelling off-peak / std class in the UK). Staff remain
compentent and friendly but they were being let down with a new C&P
system which, relying on the on-train wifi, doesn't seem to work
properly - I ended up paying cash.
I don't remember the fixed price menus under GNER (24 for two course
or 29 for three course) - is that a post-franchise change decision?
This isn't so good for people travelling shorter distances and
certainly makes 'one''s cafe-bar seem even more competitive (*).
* - stupid name but... I had my single most delicious UK on-train meal
with one-Anglia last month - shame they don't get more recognition.
