How busy are trains between Christmas and New Year?

How busy are trains likely to be between Christmas and New Year?

I'm planning a trip from London to York and back with a toddler. The
toddler normally enjoys train journeys but if the train is very busy
can get a bit upset and then the journey stops being very pleasant for
anyone...

Is it a crazy time of the year to attempt a trip like this?
