uk.r Stuffing!

Being nearly that time of the year for stuffing, I desperately
need to ask this question.
Why oh why do so many posters to this newsgroup include
the whole of a previous message --- and often all the previous
messages in the same thread --- before adding their own bit
to the discussion?
I mean something like this:
>> Jim Smith wrote > Joe Bloggs wrote (aaa) (bbb) (ccc) ddd.Hubert Cholmondely-Smythe wrote >>> Fred Higgins wrote
wrote (aaa) (bbb) cccFred Higgins wrote >> Jim Smith wrote > Joe Bloggs
Jim Smith wrote > Joe Bloggs wrote (aaa) bbb
Joe Bloggs wrote aaa ...., etc.
This results in several metres of closely packed text, to which a
typical uk.r answer might read: "Agreed", "Really?" or "Bollocks!"
(Thinks... someone might respond to this with "Get Stuffed!")
:-(>>> Stuck in Aulde Pharte mode again!
