I suggest you read the bit of the tax return about deductions for personal
use. If the reason you took a van, which is more expensive to operate than a
normal car, was merely to be able to fill up with cheap booze on the way
back, I think you will find they will be less than sympathetic.
Yeah, but there's now way I would have gone to the trouble of
bothering to find out the mileage rate for a van, I would have just
claimed the ususal rate I always claim for company travel, nothing
more than I would have claimed in the car so definitely not evasion..
I always go by the rate that my accountant advised me to claim, he
said claim the rate for a Bugatti Veyron that'll do, near enough.
