One of the worst offenders is SWT's Juniper fleet. When the doors are
released by the guard, you get the really loud "BEEP BEEP BEEP" to signify
that fact, followed by the completely unneccessary automated PA
announcement "The door buttons are now activated". Yes, we know that!
SWT - sort it out!
The Gatwick Express 460s are just as bad - why does the BEEP have to be so
load and intrusive? I really hope Southern send them back to Alstom when
they take over the franchise ...
I've found putting my thumb over the outlet hole (above the actual
door buttons) takes the annoying edge off the bleep. You need to be a
piano player to be able to press the button without letting go
though...
