The story has been updated with more detail now:

Woman injured on steam train line

A woman is thought to have suffered serious leg injuries after she
became trapped between a train and a platform on the Severn Valley
Railway.

She was trapped for more than 90 minutes after somehow slipping while
chasing a dog on the platform at Hampton Loade station in Shropshire.

A man was also trapped during Sunday's incident and treated for minor
injuries in hospital in Telford.

The steam railway runs from Bridgnorth, Shropshire, to Kidderminster,
Worcs.

The injured woman was treated at the scene before being taken by air
ambulance to hospital in Selly Oak, Birmingham.

'Extraordinary incident'

A spokesman for the railway said the accident happened as a train
moved away from the station.

He said: "We understand a small dog was running along the platform.

"The man and woman were running after it when they slipped and went
under the platform."

The train's fireman and guard managed to stop the train which had only
been moving at up to 4mph (6.44km/h), he added.

A paramedic who was visiting the railway gave assistance until medical
crews arrived.

He described the incident as "extraordinary" and said the matter had
been referred to the Rail Inspectorate, a department of the Health and
Safety Executive.

Unfortunately people tend not to consider the risks of their actions
when their dogs run away; they simply chase. You can see the same sort
of reactions when dogs escape along main roads.

I hope both recover from their injuries soon.

Then there are parents. This evening travelling through Bath, Grandma
and Grandad sat in front of me, outside were Mum and Dad with the two
small grandchildren. I estimate the youngest was about 4, the eldest
6. Both girls, one carrying a gift bag. As the HST moves away, the
four of them run alongside it waving at the couple sat in front of me
with the smallest well outside the yellow painted line looking up at
the window and waving whilst running, Bath has a very curved platform.
The platform staff member did well. I didn't hear any shouts but he
simply bent down and ushered the kids away from the train.
