West Midlands Re-openings

Tonight's Birmingham Evening Mail reports that Transport 2000 are
calling for several disused lines to be re-opened and in the interim
announcing their support for a Tory initiative for disused track beds
accross the country to be protected from further development.
Amongst the ususal suspects (Frankley - Longbridge, Walsall -
Lichfield etc.etc.), is Hampton in Arden - Whitacare Junc.
Now, when it comes to re-openings, I would quite happily argue black
is white if it could help to turn the whole country into one big train
set but even I'm having trouble with Hampton to Whitacre.
What reason could there be to re-open a railway that failed to justify
itself even during the days of railway mania.
