That's debatable now that "conventional" bombing is a thing of the past.
They're not going to be much use at defusing suicide bombers. Their
existence didn't serve any useful purpose on July 7th 2005.

As far as you know. They served a very useful purpose on July 21st 2005.
And a number of times since.
