Sometimes the railway sets passengers a problem they cannot solve, so
no.
On a train from Cardiff to Crewe last year, a 175 had been provided, but
the reservations had clearly been planned on the basis that it was going
to be a 158. Almost none of the seat numbers matched the reservation
labels that were affixed to them. I gave up trying to explain this to
the utterly perplexed passengers, who seemed to prefer arguing with each
other over the seat numbers to examining the labels. (Even those who did
eventually cotton on to what I was saying didn't seem to have the wit or
inclination to explain it to others at successive stops.)
