That is maybe your need, but the world does not consist of people
wanting to make a business day trip from London to Paris, and back,
but there are millions of people who come to London for all kinds of
purposes from all over the world, and many of them would take the
train if it were possible without having to change at Brussels or
(worse even) at Paris (moving from one the station of arrival to Gare
du Nord) and all the airport-like hassle associated with Eurostar
today.

Not just business travellers who only want to spend a few hours in
London.

Business travellers do not always wish to travel into the centre of
Paris. I've made plenty of day trips, by air from Gatwick, to visit a
client on the eastern side of Paris, about 40 minutes taxi ride from
CDG. The morning flight and the evening flight back were almost
exclusively business class, with 6 seats at the back for economy
passengers.

The journey is not possible as a day trip by train in a comparable
time, leaving home at 06:30 and being back home by 18:30.
