Perhaps the only way for Eurostar to get to Amsterdam would be for
Eurostar to become part of Thalys. But it would have to retain its

the war, the "island mentality" would probably never allow Schengen in
any case.

I don't see why Schengen is required for Eurostar to serve Amsterdam.
All that's needed is for the UK govt to allow passport checks for
those boarding at Amsterdam to take place on the train. This would
avoid the pretty much fatal requirement for dedicated secure station
platforms, rooms for passport control facilities, etc, at Amsterdam
(or any of the other suggested destinations).

Passport checks are not the main problem, it is the security nonsense that
would involve having a platform quarantined for at least an hour before each
departure. Centraal is far too busy to allow that. Then you have a similar
problem at Bruxelles where the secure platforms are north facing bays, so yet
another platform pair would have to be quarantined. There's no way SNCB and
NS are going to put up with that pointless stupidity. Expansion of E*
services is just not going to happen until Britain stops its xenophobic
behaviour.
