If you are anywhere in the front half of the train you can walk through to the front carriage in the few minutes before arrival (but do it early enough that other people aren't starting to get up and block the aisles). Another option is simply to move to an empty seat at the front of the train. Sometimes they make announcements about not moving seats because of passengers expected to board at Ashford or Lille, but in practice it's only ever a handful of people, and not a problem.
