There have been a few threads recently on this board which have alluded
to potential problems at London terminii, either now or in the future.
Eg. The discussion on the use of diesels by FCC for Cambridge services
revealed that KX Suburban coulld not handle some 10 car units,

It can only handle 8-car [EMUs]. I'd be surprised if you could find anything this side of a DLR train to fit 10 cars worth in.

and to use such might affect services on the main line side.

Peterborough used to see a few 12-car trains in the peak (to/from main shed only), and currently run some 8-car Cambridge services use the main shed. I suppose it depends on whether 10-car trains are run only in the peaks (are they 5+5, or fixed at 10?)

Which brings me to my question. How long will it be before the main
London terminii can no longer handle increasing traffic? Or will this
never happen? Or if it does, what are the solutions?

Thameslink 3k and Crossrail will reduce a lot of pressure on Kings Cross, Liverpool Street and Paddington.
