Out of curiosity, how would modern drivers feel about having the 1st

that had a forward view window on the non-driving side, and a solid
partition on the driver's side, would it be welcomed, opposed, or not
bother them one way or the other?
Why would it need to be solid on the driver's side?
In Germany the most modern expresses have a completely transparent
wall behind the cab, with raked seating and dimmed lights for the
passengers to make the most of the view forward, even at night!
I do remember that on one journey the driver "blanked" the glass for a
minute or so - by which I mean it became opaque, presumably in
response to him flicking a switch. Whether this was so he could have a
bit of a scratch or something, I do not know. I'd be interested to
know whether the drivers have a free choice of transparent/opaque, or
whether DB "encourages" them to go transparent.
