And wasn't it Chris Gibb, when he was with Wessex, who came up with the idea of through trains to Waterloo ... ? I remember the train crews being as pleased as punch with the new service in the first summer of its operation. Wish it still ran in that form at the present time, rather than having the DfT kill it completely ... it was always more useful for reaching the parts of London that Paddington doesn't than to access Eurostar ...
