Indeed. The Reading change will lose 6 services per day in each
direction (in any case, if you actually wanted to go all the way
Reading -> Brighton, you'd be better off getting a Voyager anyway). The
west of Exeter change is 5 services per day. This isn't many, either in
absolute terms or compared with the overall service from the relevant
stations.
