I saw it during Time Team a few weeks back. I was quite surprised to see
an advert for a train!!

Well wasn't it Phillips who were running adverts showing things like
their MRI scanners and other non-consumer "toys"? Seems to be no logic in
what some companies will advertise on TV these days. I suppose the idea
is to implant the company name in your head with a tenuous link to
"something good/life saving/pandering to the latest fad/etc" so you buy
their consumer goods when out shopping.

You will not be far wrong in that assumption! You can bet your house on it
that with the advertising budget that these companies have that there will
be a proven link (rather than tenuous) in the consumer psyche between
products for the greater good and household products. Very similar to the
psyche of the sports fanatic and the sponsors of sports teams - the old
'me too' phenomenon.

Hitachi display the new A-train Prototype - a High speed AM10 with Added
VEP, for those commuters who like the retro look in the commuting !!
