Hi all,

I read with interest the article in 'The Railway Magazine' (March 2006)
on SRAWS - 'Southern Region' or 'Signal Repeating' AWS', however, I've
been unable to locate any more information on this scheme.

Could anyone out there point me in the direction of any books, websites
or other articles that can provide any further information on this
subject?

Many thanks in advance.

I havn't read the article in the Railway Magazine, but I thought that SRAWS was developed by Southern Region signal engineers in order to adapt standard AWS to help in the crowded inner suburban area of the third rail network. This was abandoned in the mid 80's. I believe the orginal idea was to have the cab system show all the aspects available (on a 4 aspect system) in the cab, rather than just the two shown using standard AWS.
