I've seen something similar between Bickley & Bromley South; from
memory there were 2 lights side-by-side, facing the direction of
oncoming trains; said lights were each enclosed in a black case at
about the same height on the post as a running signal head would be and
the lenses were about the same size as those used on ground signals or
calling-on heads.

That's the one I'm talking about, though I thought it was suspended from the underside of a bridge. But it's been a while since I've been that way.


Think there might also have been a speed limit sign
below with an orange border, of the sort shaped like a "Give Way" road
sign,

Advance warning of a permanent speed restriction.

I don't remember that being there but, again, I could easily be wrong.

I had never heard of these before, let alone seen one, but conceivably it might look as if it had white lights when not lit so as not to look like two reds. ... clearing it for facing moves. ...
