Way too wordy, and the "more advanced newsreaders" bit (not to mention
slagging OE) is simply going to result in most people skipping to the
next thread long before they've actually got to the point of the
message.

Can I suggest instead:

When using Google Groups to reply to posts, please don't just click on
the "Reply" link at the bottom of the article, instead click "Show
Options" and then click the "Reply" link that appears at the top.

The reason for this is that the "show options" reply link will result
in a "quote" of the message you are replying to, you can then answer it
point-by point (remember, in a newsgroup replies always go below the
original, not above), and people who may not have seen the original
article will know what you're responding to.

When answering, snip (delete) all of the quote but the bit you're
answering, this makes it easier and tidier for everyone.
