Basically, Len your arguments defending the RSGB were right royally
rogered when the timeline leading up to the 'club nite survey' that
you asked for was put together.
Sorry Spike you're confabulating at no time has a clear mandate to instruct the board on whether to support the retention of CW or not. The members survey was not for that purpose and hand no clear unambiguous question on the mater of CW.
Who was it said that 'things are run by those who turn up?'
Spike I believe.
In this case it means those who turned up to vote, and who voted for
the retention of CW for HF access. However, it appears that this
wasn't the wanted outcome, so the survey results had to be ditched.
Not the RSGB's finest hour, and arguably the tipping point that
ushered in the mindset for the system now in place.
I thing the FOL in its present form has more to do with the fall in standards and nothing to do with CW
You seem to be parroting the RSGB line, that it wasn't that many
respondents who wanted the status quo, so it didn't matter if their
wishes were ditched. Wonderful thing, democracy, until it gives a
result that's unwanted.
If I was parroting the RSGB party line I would be supporting the FL in its present form. I don't do I Spike?
The survey was never intended to request a mandate of the RSGB’s position on CW and the survey form never suggested that was. There was no simple and clear question ‘do you wish to retain the CW requirement for HF question Yes/No’? With exception of the CW Nazis on here it is no longer an issue with most radio amateurs.
That doesn't make it right, you fool.
No but it was right. Why should CW have special privileges?
Your ‘issues’ with the RSGB however seem to go back much further back than that, as you proudly claim 'Not a member of the RSGB for 50 years 1959 - 2009'. I wonder what the real reason is? Were you passed by for volunteer position or had you an article for the Bulletin refused, did you fall out with a member of the committee? Were you ever a member? Bet it’s nothing to do with the retention of the CW test.
Yes, I was a member, and I resigned in 1959.
Care to say why?
Also why do you have so much faith in the benign intervention of OFCOM when all the evidence shows they have little interest in enforcing existing regulations at senior management level and insufficient resources at the sharp end to do the work? Is it a case that amateur radio is no longer your version of the hobby any more so you want to see its quick demise regardless of the pleasure it gives to the vast majority?
As you have been told repeatedly, Ofcom are mandated to survey those
affected by its proposals for change.
They do a random sample of of complainants every couple of months. Nothing major for years.
They did so, and as a result the RSGB got a bloody nose, with an even
greater percentage of members voting against their proposals than
non-members.
You don't get it Spike there was no clear unambiguous question 'do you wish CW to be retained for HF access' or similar.
If you are no longer really interested in amateur radio any more there are plenty of other pastimes can take up. Bowling seems to me popular with senior citizens.
Get stuffed, sonny.
I've to told to do worse Spike, I bet you have been told to go forth and multiply too.
