Northern British idiot!

we can't all be Southern British idiots like you............

Jim, It's not so often you are wrong, but you are right again :-)

Scotland provided some of this islands finest engineers and ship yards, as did the North of England.

The Northwest of England sparked off the industrial revolution.

The Midlands became one of the worlds finest engineering centres. Producing Sheffield steel, machine tools and cars.

The South Western edge of England gave us men that discovered the world and not forgetting Brunel (sp), the best bridge maker.

Wales gave us Welsh lamb, damned fine men's choirs, not to mention Catherine Davis, Charlotte Church, dare I say Tom Jones and lots of jokes about how they treat the sheep.

Now then Jim, just what has the South given us but high tax, including the council tax. a collapse in the economy, a government we do not trust, a stagnation in the start point of all income tax threshold rates. The removal of the poor mans 10p/£ starting rate. Prescription rates that still exist in England. Drugs that are banned by some quango that calls itself NICE (yes, I know they hold no sway over what you can have prescribed, but to use the name of NICE, beggars belief.) Council bin tax, a police force that advocates a slap on the wrist for carrying a knife, If you can find a policeman. And they increase their precept well above inflation each year. Police should be paid for by central government, not pushed onto the local one, only to lose out on funding from central G.

For my part, I reckon that is a score of about 10-nill

And my final dig, is this totally false rate of inflation that includes luxuries like liquid plasma TVs that have dropped in price that skew the real rate of inflation.

Where do I find a low paid working mans rate of inflation.

Dave
