There are many signs that M$
is in trouble and that Vista is a failure.
It came with my new laptop and runs OK here. In fact, I quite like it.
I don't see my "converting" all the machines in the house to it (even
though I can get the upgrades at a good price via my education discount)
but, as they are replaced, I can see it being adopted chez-nous.
OTOH, having tried a number of the various "flavour of the moment" Linux
versions, they never seem quite worth the trouble of the install.

I tried it and never liked it. I will stick to XP for the foreseeable
future, However, in the future it may be improved and then I will
reconsider. Unless of course a completely new platform comes out to replace
it.
Totally with you on this Graham..I'm going to run XP for as long as I
can..then I'll go Linux or Mac next..I beta'd Vista, and given that it
was beta (RC1) - It was awful...sure I knew it was unfinished, but
installing Wireless card drivers took too long with all the security pop
ups.
Luckily the HDD I had it on died (ran fresh install on a spare HDD)Vista
told me it was going to happen, but even though the SMART drivers were
in Vista couldn't tell me when it was going to happen..a box popped up
saying that my HDD was in trouble!
