Just bought a Minimitter TOP-2-7 from ebay, has anyone got a schematic or
any other info? I've googled but found next to nothing.

A nice-looking box.
Don't worry about not having a manual or schematics just now, this is
the time to do some basic stuff.
At least it doesn't have a preselector - which completely threw one
person of claimed years of experience, a written RAE, and a much
delayed morse test.
This is the time to do some gentle cleaning-up, checking the
mechanical parts work, and bringing the capacitors back to life.
Whatever you do, don't plug it in and turn it on!
Check the power cable for faults, both physical and wiring ones.
You have a valved rectifier in the psu. This makes it a bit more
difficult to bring the HT lines up gently. A solid state rectifier
means you can variac the HT volts up very slowly; do you have a
separate psu you could use for this, or could you borrow one? You
could remove the rectifier valve and substitute a pair of diode
rectifiers of suitable rating, disconnecting the output from the rest
of the set.
You'll need to remove the valves. Don't clean them with water, the
printing on the envelopes can come off very easily. I use a gentle
application of WD40. OMMV. Use washing-up water and cotton-wool or
cotton buds for the chassis. Try to lift any dirt, rather than rub it
in.
With the valves out, try applying volts to the HT line through a 100k
resistor, starting at a very low level and monitoring the volts across
the resistor. Or disconnect one capacitor at a time for this treatment
This method can take days to recover individual capacitors, but I've
never lost one doing it this way.
Whatever you do, think about what you're doing, and take your time.
Don't expect to have this going for some time. It's a nice peice of
gear, look on this as a long-term project. There's plenty of AM
activity on 80m. I'd like to see more on 40, though.
