I've been fighting all day, I think you would be challenged.
As for R, W and VD, I'm sure they're very clever people, it's just that
theory of that nature is rarely directly applicable to the practical
problems that engineers have to solve daily.
I've yet to find a software package that I've found a challenge to
understand and come to terms with quickly.
As to your second paragraph, you're confusing a technician (who
uses tools blindly having learnt his theory by rote) and an engineer
(who undertands the mathematical basis of everything he does, and
can use that basis to predict behaviour of his creations, and also
can use that basis to redevelop his theory from first principles)
I hope you don't consider yourself to be an Engineer.
