Johnny, do you still have them? If so, are the Kokusai filters still OK?
Just curious as the innards seem to melt over 30-40 years and render the
filters useless.

Hi Duncan,

Kokusai there's a name from the past.
I suppose in the years I had them this corrosion did not take place.

The receivers used FT-243 ex-wd crystals.
Many a happy hour was spent with a *** of glass and a
pile of VIM to grind them to freq.
And of course a BC-221 if you were lucky to check the series res freq.

And of course *** G2DAF was always available on 3680 to help
you out if you had a problem.

The Transmitters if memory serves me right had two Filter modules,
Xtal or Kokusai. That could be built.

Or if you were RICH a set of xtal from QCC . Paul Deadman I think was the
main guy.

As I married had kids a cat and a mortgage they all got sold off..

About 10 years or so ago, I went to visit an HF Packet BBs in Gateshead.
There on the floor was my G2DAF linear permanently fired up on 20 mtrs.
It was in the region of 25 years old then and still turning out RF.

I had drilled Circa 3000 holes in the box around the PA for ventilation.
No big holes with a bit of perforated metal over it.
I just made my screen with 3000 holes. GOD I must have been mad.

But no cash to talk off.
But LOADS of interest.
You may notice I still use a soldering iron to this day. Nearing 74 years
now.

Are components getting smaller ?.

Must be my eyes.

Its so great to construct.!!!!!!!!!!
