Ah, I see. I tried tuning my handheld to the local repeater, and then
connecting to it from the Mac. It was a bit weird, what with all the
digital voices, and my voice delayed by a second or so. Just as well
no-one answered me.

Can be quite fun. I once noticed that 10m was pretty open and saw that
there was a node on the Canary Islands active on 29.700. I put a call
out on 10m and got into the node direct. This was relayed through to a
simplex gateway locally and popped out on 70cms. No idea why the OP
chose the FM calling freq, but switching to the hand held I was then
able to call DX across europe using just 15mW on 70cm. Then a Jap on a
PC connected giving quite a number of German stations heart
palpatations as they fought each other for the "new country". Fell
apart at that stage, but was tremendous fun while it lasted.
