The United Kingdom Federation of Amateur Radio Traders, have submitted
a proposal to Ofcom and The RSGB, for a new pre-foundation
amateur-radio licence.

The proposals are:
"that the present Foundation Licence exam, whilst extremely
simplistic, is somewhat time-consuming and, that a simple licence,
purchased over the counter, would do much to encourage 'new blood'
into this dying hobby."

The proposal further suggests, that:
"that the licence should allow the use of up to 10 Watts of RF output,
on 40M. 2M and 23cms, only.

The full text of the proposal will be included in the next issue of
Radio Communications.

The RSG8 say they will make their formal response to the proposals in
due course, but their initial view, is that the proposal has merit and
they are minded to support it.
