Re: BOOK for Learning AND teaching the Foundation Certificate

thanks Brian

I am really enjoying learning this stuff.

I studied some physics at college but ended up doing computing.

I went down a dead end foir many years concentrating on operating
systems such as novell and microsoft and banyan vines.,

It paid good money but ultimately it was a waste of time.,

about 3 months ago i got very interested in wireless computing - wifi
or 802.11 - and this got me interested in radio theory.

i was very interested in propagation theory and free space loss and
this brought me tothis newsgroup;

i decided i might as well learn some basic radio theory to go with the
wifi.

i built a simple radio using a diode and a crystal earphone and enjoyed
it.

i realised i could now combine computing with physics - a subject i
always liked but had never been able to study properly.

now i realise with amateur radio i can study physics and be practical.

i believe this is a life long passion and hope to get involved as far
as possible.

i am a strong advocate of renewable energy and i am interested to
explore how radio can contribute to this need.

i am not desperate to get am amatuer license as i am more keen on
learning the theory and experimenting . this may mean i buy a rig
before i am licensed but i dont see any harm in that,

after all i am more interested in the technical side of it than the
political.

I thank you for all your help and encouragement Brian and just hope
that some other posters can appreciate the different approach i am
taking to this stuff.

cheers or 73 as you hams say

sam
