Observing new river courses, because, 'they' do no maintenance
on rivers.... and no capacity planning.

They're 'loving it' (tm) and out of range... even if in
physical range they are legally out of range.

media and people like the pundit on R4 news this evening....

they added 10 million population in about as many years (what?
you believe the census?) and wonder where all the water went,
but they can blame it on AGW... and climate instability...
pah...

we have had 10+ years of flash floods, and summer droughts,
and still they have done nothing. (nothing but blame it on
AGW and offer nuke power and gm crops as the solution.)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17901615

also observing someone who perhaps believed Vw's were
semi-submersible... should have fitted the snorkel exhaust
attachment first... LOL

(is it ok to exhibit schadenfreude about a vw driver... ? LOL)

doubly idiotic really, because, they are also complaining about
loss of flipping topsoil... dredging rivers gives you at least
some that back....

(errr... anyone heard of the river nile? or the facts known
about it even back in the time of the kings?, it floods and
makes the plains fertile... err... because of silt you
nitwits... so you pre-empt the inconvenience of the floods by
extracting/dredging the silt that clogs the estuaries and back
upstream... (and make other preparations probably, like some
suggested on r4 news this evening))

my suggestion... like as rivers run dry, a channel cut (in fluid
style (schauberger... celtic-art...) rather than teutonic
right-angle style)) would reduce surface area for evaporation.

that person who drowned in a car... I was wondering what kind of
idiot or old-aged perhaps? then perhaps a reason stuck me... all
electric windows.... no manual override...

if you know the physics (I read somewhere about escaping from
submerged cars) you cannot open the door as water presure vs. the
air inside is hard to overcome.... so you have to wind the window
down....
electrics gone... no window opening... unless you have a
fire-axe in
the glove compartment LOL... and an escape hood...

actually the aberdeen helicopter escape training course never
mentioned that... they reckoned you were supposed to elbow out the
window... think they need a small hammer by each window and train
for inrush of water as well.... if your kneck is not broken
anyway by blade seizure....

all well and good elbowing out the window above water....

probably a timing thing with that... because elbowing out a window
while equalised underwater pressure is no easy task...

take one window out... all got hoods ready... when water halfway up
inside take all windows out (with hammers provided by each window)
and then multiple escape routes to escape the acceleration of the
sinking speed... probably need to do a bends pause on the way up
even.... got several minutes they reckon with those re-breather
hoods...

hmmm... does the helicopter tip... like take a front window (or
pair) out at same time as back window/pair.... or mid-window pair
might slow descent...

ever played with a toy (real semi-simulated sub air tank) sub in the
bath... LOL

Hmmm... sinking upside down might be problematic... strapped in...
4-5 ft from ceiling... beyond arms reach... no actually they have
those air blowing strut/ports... so... handstand... bit of acrobatic
one hand unclip and leg on headrest, semi graceful descent to
'ceiling' might still work...

awesome ride in the pool simulator.....

deep pool eh...

they would never justify the training cost... so mass media get their
frank n. furter schule story...

don't worry... all their necks were broken instantly....

(they know which way they tilt and how it will go in various sea
conditions from a hardish landing... or should...)

ah.. the paradox... kill more in training than anywhere near
probability of death in normal operation...

but still... cover it in theory...

and the sudden upside down bit real training is disorientating... but
perhaps leaving air in your dry suit and jumping off a high board is
even more so.... no joke....

losing gravity.... which way is up? still important underwater....

floating legs up also not very conducive to life.... and no lifejacket
in that training exercise which might have mitigated it if it was
jump... hit... pop lifejacket.... would overcome negative air in legs
buoyancy.... and the shock effect...

too expensive to pop a lifejacket even probably... bah humbug....

similarly the roll would be better with all windows in... (only
practised elbowing out window against air... heck might have been a low
pressure on the barometer day LOL) and rip out seal and then try and
elbow out the window (where's me c.f./fibreglass elbow pads LOL) and
deal with water onrush... actually did not even get to really practice
with a rebreather hood in situ.

lead zeppelin...

fat is lighter than water LOL....
